Concrete & Plywood

In a creative studio lots of unexpected activities occur. Some are serious some loud, some quiet, some outrageous and some absolutely inappropriate. What space can not only contain all this but encourage it? Our design for the TODA studio in Manhattan takes a hands off approach, cleaning up existing 100 year old walls and polishing the old cement floor which once hosted a produce market.

In the middle we constructed a box of humble construction plywood, stained bright white. Built with transformable doors and hatches the box can be opened up for maximum visibility or locked down to provide a serious enclosure … for quiet meetings on the inside and on-demand display space out.
